This fall, Dylan and I had the pleasure of product-testing four DeGregorio cajons. Dylan wrote a review of them for Modern Drummer, and we made a video demonstrating their sound. I was mentioned in the review and got to contribute my own cajon playing to the music for the video. It is pretty clear that we liked these cajons because by the end of the process each of us had one of our own. I really love my job!
Pick up the December issue of Modern Drummer to read the full review, and watch the video below.
A few months ago I joined up with a Rockin’ Kids Band called The Fuzzy Lemons. When I joined them, they were just finishing up an EP with some great original family friendly music. While I didn’t record the drums on the record, I did have the opportunity to add a few conga tracks. Listen to it on iTunes, CDbaby, and Spotify.
The Herreras have released a beautiful ten-track album entitled “Noche.” It features percussion work by yours truly. I had a blast adding the layers of guiro and conga, cajon and shaker. Come for the percussion, stay for the mesmerizing spanish guitars. It’s on sale now at the iTunes store but I’ll give you a taste with “Alto:”
Another milestone for Yeezus is another first for my career. On Friday, Kanye West’s Yeezus was nominated for Best Rap Album in this year’s GRAMMY awards. While, if it wins (knock on wood), I will never see or touch the actual trophy, they can’t stop me from making one out of paper mâché and whispering sweet nothings to it…
Kanye West’s album, Yeezus, was certified Gold by the RIAA in August, having sold upwards of 500,000 copies less than two months after its release. And I get to have this rad plaque hanging from my wall.
My hometown newspaper published the exciting news about Yeezus. The Wednesday Journal was a staple of my early years. I am grateful to be featured. Click on the image below for a clearer look at the article.

I just had my first major record credit with Kanye West’s Yeezus! Two weeks ago I did an all night recording session with Dylan Wissing of Indie Studio Drummer for producer Ken Lewis and today I found out that my part was included on the record and I’m credited. I am blown away right now.
